Inversion. 2023. David Sieh.

This painting is inspired by springtime on the prairie while working the land and many hours of deep contemplation. It’s a prime example of exploring the visual world in a nonliteral sense. Abstracting color, movement, and form from nature may reveal that many things may not as they appear. Even the simplest landscape is full of complexity.

David Sieh is a painter and naturalist living in Sioux Falls. His work has been displayed and collected across the country. David’s paintings are nonrepresentational works and representational landscapes, all derived from and inspired by nature. Working fluently in both styles, Sieh has set himself apart from many other painters. David grew up along the Mississippi River near St. Paul, MN, immersed in nature and surrounded by contemporary industrial culture. These dynamics have influenced his work, continuing their influence today.
